Verizon Samsung Galaxy S4: KitKat Update Better Late Than Never

The telecommunication industry in the US is pretty simple to dissect. There is Verizon and the other carriers. The reason why Verizon got singled out from the rest is due to the fact that it has yet to update its Galaxy S4 devices to the latest Android 4.4.2 KitKat.

Of course, Verizon is not alone. Surprisingly, the international version of the Galaxy S4 has yet to get the KitKat OS. This is rare from Samsung as the phone manufacturer normally rolls out an update to the international devices first, before looking at the carriers.

Just recently, rumours suggest that the KitKat OS is currently being tested by the Big Red. If this is true, then it won’t be long until the KitKat OS arrives to Verizon’s Galaxy S4 smartphones.

On the downside however, S4 users on Verizon won’t be notified when the KitKat is ready. The carrier has this dislike for announcing when an update is available and prefers to roll them out at random. As such, it is best to monitor Verizon’s support page. Also, users will have to be prepared for the update prompt if the OTA reaches their device.

This isn’t something new from Verizon. Time and time again, the carrier is always last to roll out an update. The positive is that all the updates are free of issues. It is also worth noting that Verizon won’t be later than the smaller carriers in the US.
