At the moment there is no official release date for the Nexus 6, but if you go on the previous launches of the last three, the Galaxy Nexus, Nexus 4, and Nexus 5, then it is safe to assume that we could see the next handset arrive in October.
The Nexus 6 could arrive with a new version of Android, it could be Android 4.5 or it could be Android 5. One thing is for sure, if we do see a new OS the Nexus will be the first handset to run it.
We did hear that LG will be behind the Nexus 6. The Nexus 4 has the base of the LG Optimus Gs hardware; the Nexus 5 had the base of the LG G2. So LG could be behind the next Nexus and it could have similar specs to the LG G3. The LG G3 will be coming out on 27 May.
An insider said that the Nexus 6 will offer a fingerprint sensor, Google have been having advanced talks with suppliers in Asia. It is thought that this will be on the front panel, but will it work the same as the iPhone 5S or the Samsung Galaxy S5s slide to unlock.
More than likely the hardware of the Nexus 6 will be similar to the LG G3. So this means it could have the 256 x 1440 5.5 inch display, the quad core 2.5GHz Snapdragon 810 processor, 2GB of RAM and a battery of 3,000 mAh.
The LG G3 is going to offer the Snapdragon 801 SoC, so the Nexus 6 could use the Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 chip. This is based on four Krait 450 cores which come clocked at 2.7GHz along with the quad core Adreno 420 GPU. This is based on the fact that the Nexus devices always have the most powerful Qualcomm chipsets.
The LG G3 should arrive with the display of 5.5 inches Quad core at 2560 x 1440 resolution and we could see the Nexus 6 having these too. However more than likely is a full HD touchscreen of 5.2 inches, which was seen on the LG G2.
The Nexus is known for its below par camera, so hopefully we could see the 13MP camera which is said to be on the LG G3.
Reports have been going around that the Nexus family may be taken over by Android Silver. However earlier on this year the senior vice president of Google did say that we would see the Nexus 6 during the second half of this year.
So are you waiting for the arrival of the Nexus 6?
