Sony went public yesterday to announce that the Android 4.4.4 KitKat will be coming to the Xperia SP, X, T, TX and V. Above all that, the update will be topped with new exclusive features that are inspired by the Xperia Sirius and Z1.
Among them is the addition of some new functions to the stock camera app. They are identified to be Background Defocus and Timeshift Video. Also, the Smart Social app will also be getting a new look. The Close All button appears to be on its own instead of being grouped together with Recent Apps and Smart Backlight.
Other notable changes are with the icons on the notification bar. The battery, network and other notification symbols are all redesigned with simplicity in mind. Of course, the Xperia SP, X, TX and V will also be enjoying stock KitKat functions like more supports for calls, double tapping to wake and white balance.
The Xperia Sirius, on the other hand, will also get some upgrades of its own. Sony revealed that the Sirius will get S Force Audio and Clear Audio with XLoud engines.
On the downside of things, Sony failed to reveal on when the update will arrive on the above devices. At the moment, the Android 4.4.4 KitKat is only available for the Xperia Z2 but we can expect it to arrive on other Xperia devices very soon from now.
