The Samsung Galaxy S5 has just been revealed at the MWC and now it is time to compare it with some of the other handsets on the market, including the LG Nexus 5. The Nexus 5 arrived in November to some great reviews and is a huge leap over the predecessor. But how well does it match up against the latest offering from Samsung?
When it comes to productivity and power the Samsung Galaxy S5 does have an advantage over the Nexus 5 as it has the 2.5GHz Snapdragon 801 processor. The Nexus 5 has the 2.3GHz 800 processor from Snapdragon. Both of the devices have 4G LTE compatibility and have Wi-Fi access. The Samsung Galaxy S5 offers a longer lasting battery and it has the Micro SD card slot and fingerprint scanner.
The design of the Samsung Galaxy S5 hasn’t changed all that much from the Samsung Galaxy S4. The S5 has the 5.1 inch display, while the Nexus 5 offers a display of 4.95 inches, with the screen resolution being 1080 x 1920. Samsung has given the handset water resistance and the device may be submerged in water up to one meter for 30 minutes, without suffering damage. The Nexus 5 weighs less as it comes in at 130 grams, compared to the 145 grams of the Samsung Galaxy S5.
The Samsung Galaxy S5 has a camera of 2.1MP on the front, which is an improvement over the camera of 1.3MP on the Nexus 5. Samsung included a camera on the back of 16MP compared to the 8MP of the Nexus 5, which can also record video at 4k.
The Samsung Galaxy S5 should offer all the tools you need, including the fingerprint scanner and a battery that should last around 21 hours. On paper it does beat the Nexus 5. The Nexus 5 however does have a lot of great qualities to it and for the price tag it is one of the best. You will pay around $700 for the Samsung Galaxy S5 while the Nexus 5 comes in at around $350.
The Samsung Galaxy S5 will arrive with most carriers in April.
