Samsung have not actually gone ahead and confirmed KitKat 4.4 for the Samsung Galaxy S, however there are some things that point to the update coming out for the handset. Google launched KitKat 4.4 back in September of last year, but at the time they didn’t offer much news about it.
When it was launched it rolled onto the Nexus devices before then making its way to other devices. Owners of the Samsung Galaxy S3 have started to see the rollout of KitKat 4.4 for their handsets, but Samsung hasn’t said anything about it coming to the Samsung Galaxy S4 still.
It was said that KitKat 4.4 would be the same version for the Samsung Galaxy S4 as it is for the Samsung Galaxy Note 3. However now things might have changed. The French carrier SFR said that it would rollout in January or February. SamMobile said that it would happen in February or March, so there is a difference of opinion. On their website it said that KitKat 4.4 for the Samsung Galaxy S4 had been in testing.
Samsung typically roll out their updates in stages and so this means they are slow. KitKat 4.4 is rolling out in Poland, which means that slowly it will arrive to the rest of the world. Of course those owners of handsets who are with a carrier typically have to wait for a while until they receive the update. Those in the US could have to wait for some time before seeing the update for their device.
As Samsung don’t usually announce updates owners may wish to keep checking their handset.
