It is more bad news for Samsung Galaxy S3 and S3 Mini users. Samsung once promised the Android 4.4.2 KitKat update for both devise from 2012 but the manufacturer now changed its mind.
In the latest announcement from the tech manufacturer, both the Galaxy S3 and S3 Mini international version and on the UK won’t be getting any further updates. Samsung continued that only the US versions of the devices will get it.
This is due to the smartphones, lacking in memory. Aside from the US, all Galaxy S3 and S3 Mini are equipped with 1GB RAM, which is insufficient to run the KitKat. The US variants are built with 2GB.
While it might sound disappointing, it is also contradicting. Google did reveal that the KitKat OS is able to support devices with lower memory superbly. As such, analyst felt that the problem isn’t with the KitKat but with the TouchWiz UI.
