Samsung Galaxy S3 & Mini Android KitKat Update Controversy

Samsung revealed that this is due to them not having sufficient memory to run the KitKat. This is somewhat contradicting as Google did reveal that the KitKat is able to support devices with lower memory.

Samsung explained further that it isn’t with the KitKat but instead, the issue is with TouchWiz. This original UI from the Korean manufacturer is considerably heavy in terms of size and usage that the 1GB RAM on the aforementioned devices won’t be enough to run it smoothly.

This is a totally different scenario for the Galaxy S3 and S3 Mini in the US as they are equipped with 2GB RAM. This is the same case with every 4G Galaxy S3 and S3 Mini variants worldwide.

As such, if you’re an owner of the LTE Galaxy S3 or S3 Mini, then the KitKat is on its way to you. If not, the only way to get the KitKat is through rooting the device. Of course, we don’t endorse that.
