Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 & The New KitKat Update

The LTE Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 will be able to get KitKat 4.4.2 soon, starting with the Nordics, including Finland and Denmark. The OS will have all the latest widgets like support for wireless printing, a new camera shortcut and a default SMS app button.

Anyone who wants to update their Note 10.1 manually can read this guide for a walkthrough, but there are some essential steps that need to be taken beforehand. First off, USB drivers need to be installed so that the device can connect to a computer, then USB debugging mode needs to be enabled. The device must be backed up and there must be at least 80 per cent battery power. Also, the model number of the Note 10.1 has to be P605XXUCNE2.

Android KK 4.4.2 will only work on the LTE Note 10.1, 2014 Edition SM-P605.

When all this is done, users must install P605XXUCNE2 KK 4.4.2 into the Note 10.1, before extracting the downloaded firmware and extracting the .tar.md5 file. Then the Odin zip must be extracted for the Odin3 v.3.09.exe file. Once this is done, the device must be powered off.

Next, users will need to enter Download Mode by holding the home, power and volume down buttons simultaneously, then run the Ordinal Administrator on the PC. The Note 10.1 should then be plugged into the computer while in Download Mode, after which Odin should detect it. Once Odin has turned blue, users should click the AP button and then choose .tar.md5 with extension.

Then, Auto Reboot and F.Reset Time in Odin should be reset, although the Re-Partition box should NOT be checked. Once installation is finished, the Note 10.1 can be disconnected from the PC and it should be running KK 4.4.2.
