Following the recent announcement by Rockstar that Grand Theft Auto 5 will be coming to current-gen consoles and PC, media website ‘Kotaku’ has had the opportunity to interview PlayStation’s North America marketing vice president, John Koller. With the topic of GTA V brought up, Koller has stated very interesting news.
When asked if there were any advantages to playing the title on PlayStation 4 rather than other consoles, Koller explained that “we [haven’t] announced anything publicly on that, but there will be”. He then continues to state, “Grand Theft Auto is a PlayStation franchise. It started with us. We really feel strongly that it belongs as a key platform driver for us.”
If what Koller says is true, this is great news for PlayStation 4 owners. Downloadable content is the most likely outcome as exclusive content on the PS4, although, different content such as timed exclusives may also be possible.
More news of what Koller means will be forthcoming during the next few weeks as Koller explains that “Grand Theft Auto 5 is a title that we’ll talk about more in the weeks and months to come, but GTA V is a franchise that will be something very special on PlayStation.”
