The Pokebank has been the most controversial topic for the whole month in the gaming community. This is following its failed release back in December last year. Last week was the game changer as the world witnessed its release again. However, it was restricted to the Japanese market only.
The US, Europe and Aussie Pokemon community have been pretty vocal throughout the Pokebank launch. In fact what deserves a mention is that Nintendo caught us by surprise when it released the Pokebank to Japan unannounced. Folks are now wondering if checking daily for an announcement on the official Nintendo Support Twitter account is any good.
So was there an announcement prior to the Pokebank’s re-release in Japan last week? The answer is no. At first, the eShop went down momentarily for a scheduled update. The moment it went live again, the Pokebank was there and available for download. It took Nintendo 9 hours later to confirm its re-release when they updated their Nintendo Twitter account.
Since the surprise re-release is practiced by Nintendo with the intention to control the traffic to its servers, we can assume that it will arrive in the US, Europe and Australia unannounced. So it is best for the US Pokemon fans to monitor the eShop on their 3DS as the Pokebank could just make a debut there before Nintendo voices anything.
So if you wish to grab the Pokebank before a potential server crash and possible removal again, you may not have the privilege of waiting for the announcement. Reports have already shown that the re-release of the Pokebank in Japan last week resulted in at least one server downtime just a day after.
