Ever since Google I/O started, the world has been buzzing on Android 5.0 L. Dubbed as the Lollipop, this new OS is expected to take over the KitKat later this year. Despite that fact, consumers can start exploring the Lollipop as early as today.
It appears that Google has finally shared the Lollipop ROM over at Android’s official website. However, the ROM is built specifically for the Nexus 5 and the 2013 Nexus 7. Other devices are advised to stay away from the update as it might brick the device.
Also, it is important to note that the Lollipop is actually the developer’s edition. Google wishes for apps developer to get started in making their apps Android 5.0 compatible. After all, the Lollipop arrived with 5000 new APIs.
At the moment, it seems that the Lollipop is only for the Nexus 5 and 7. Other Nexus devices like the Nexus 4 and 2012 Nexus 7 will not enjoy the OS treat this early. Nevertheless, they can still look forward to seeing the Android 5.0 as the final update.
There is a lot of reason for the masses to be excited for the Lollipop. The OS is revealed to come with many features like Project Volta, battery historian, job scheduler and many performance boosting features. Expect all of these to make its official debut in Q4 this year.
