It was clear that LG’s plan to offer a smartphone with a modular design did not work out for them. The whole switching off the device to switch was just too inconvenient for people to actually want to try it out.
Then came Motorola with their version of the modular smartphone. Unlike the LG G5, the Moto Z’s modular design made a lot more sense. Changing the mods was easy and fast and the mods that Motorola actually offered were useful as well.
The current mods that are available include the Moto Insta-Share Projector, TUMI Power Pack, JBL SoundBoost, and Hasselblad True Zoom camera.
Motorola might have won the modular war this year but the war is far from over. LG has made it clear that they will still be continuing the modular design next year. Let’s hope they learn from their mistake and come out with a device that people will actually want to use.
