Android smartphones, no matter how ready they are, won’t be able to get the highly anticipated Android 5.0 Lollipop update until the OS gets released by Google. Well, that is unless the company is Motorola.
The Lenovo-owned phone manufacturer ‘accidentally’ pushed out the Android 5.0 Lollipop update to its Moto X users yesterday. Motorola even went as far as putting up the Lollipop firmware over at its website, together with the official download link.
Of course, the Motorola head-honchoes were shocked by the whole incident and hence cancelled the update. Regardless, the damage has been done as some Moto X users managed to anticipate the update and are now running on the Android 5.0 Lollipop. The irony of the matter is that the Moto X is the base model for the Google Nexus 6.
Aside from the premature updating from Motorola, the company revealed that they will sending the update toe the Moto X, Moto G, Moto G Gen 2, Moto G 4G LTE, Moto E, Droid Ultra, Droid Maxx and Droid Mini.
The Lollipop will be replacing the KitKat and will look to arrive with tons of new features and functions that will blow the users’ mind. On top of that Motorola will also be improving its exclusive features with the update.
