Phone manufacturer Motorola is working hard to deliver its word in being quicker to rollout the Android 4.4 KitKat update to its devices. A premature engineering build of the KitKat has been made into a flashable ROM by the developer, TheOrangeRemix, for the T-Mobile’s Moto X. The ROM quotes the build as 139.42.62.
As revealed on XDA, they tested on the Moto X and everything came out fruitful. Motorola actually looked to address multiple issues with the Moto X as described by its users such as the device’s camera. While the image quality is really poor, with the update, users can see a major improvement. Other notable additions will be a new Google Search, Hangouts and other features of the KitKat. However, functions like the Google Experience Launcher and the Tap & Pay was revealed to be missing from the phone.
Another key feature looked to be missing is the transparent notification bar. Apparently, Google plans that the particular feature will only be exclusively for the Nexus series. While the flash ROM is available on the website, it is already fixed onto the T-Mobile variant only so don’t get any funny ideas to install it on your device.
Users from other carriers like Verizon will just need to sit tight and relax until they get their version of the update. Having previously won the race in releasing the Android 4.3 Jellybean for the Galaxy S4, Verizon is yet to announce anything for the KitKat on the Moto X.
