Mazda3 vs Honda Civic: Best Compact Car Is…

What is there not to like about the latest, tenth generation Honda Civic? The car has an upmarket design, a decent performance and great fuel economy. However, does this mean that the Civic is better than the latest Mazda3?

The base model Mazda3 runs on the 2L 4-cylinder engine that is paired to a manual gearbox and this produces 155hp while returning up to 41mpg. The base Honda Civic also runs on a 2L 4-pot unit while being paired to a manual gearbox. This allows the car to develop 158hp and return up to 40mpg in fuel economy.

In terms of performance, both the Mazda3 and the Honda Civic are very identical to each other. However, we still prefer the Mazda3 over the Civic due to it being more fun to drive. Unlike the Civic, the Mazda3 can be purchased as a hatchback and the top trims are offered with a manual gearbox.

Even so, the Civic is more comfortable to drive in and we prefer its styling over the Mazda3. Both cars are so identical to each other that it is hard to decide between the two. Which compact car do you think is better?
