The current Mazda MX-5 is still pretty new which is why we were surprised to hear that Mazda is actually working on updating the Mazda MX-5.
One of the main goals for the next Mazda MX-5 is to reduce the overall weight if the vehicle. Nobuhiro Yamamoto recently did an interview with Autocar and reveal that although the next Mazda MX-5 will come with the same measurement, it will be a lot lighter than the current model.
He also added that Mazda will be suing carbon fiber to replace some parts to reduce the overall weight of the vehicle. Since the vehicle is lighter now, Mazda will also be able to fit in a smaller engine which would further reduce the weight of the Mazda MX-5.
Not only will the Mazda MX-5 come weighing less but it looks like Mazda is also working to make the vehicle more affordable. It is estimated that the next Mazda MX-5 will only be arriving in 2021.
