Mazda will be issuing a recall to recall their Mazda 6 after an issue with the airbags was reported. However, affected owners will not be getting the fix soon as the replacement parts are not available yet.
According to the report by NHTSA, the protective coating on the computer in the Mazda 6 airbags might have been damaged by moisture seeping in. It is believed that the coating was not applied properly. The computer controls the airbag deployment which could lead to the airbags failing to deploy once it is damage.
Affected Mazda 6 will include the 2009 and 2010 models. A total of 41,918 units of the Mazda 6 will be recalled. Those affected will be getting their control module replace when the time comes.
Affected owners will be notified first and will be called in to get the issue fix when the components arrive.
