May 17 could be release date for LG G3 which could even be the base for Nexus 6. South Korean media sources suggest that we could see the LG G3 released in May. If this were so LG would have already been working on the handset to get it released on time, but bear in mind that the LG G2 hasn’t reached its first birthday yet as it arrived in August of last year. If the LG G3 does come out in May then it would arrive earlier than the release date rumoured for the Samsung Galaxy S5 but after the release of the HTC One+, which is said to be in February.
The last two devices to come from LG were also the base for the Google Nexus and the Google Nexus 5, which leads us to believe that the LG G3 may well be the base for the Google Nexus 6.
One reason why LG may consider launching the LG G3 is that its predecessor didn’t sell at that well, even with good reviews. LG will want the LG G3 to be a big leap forward so as to match the specs that have been rumoured for the Samsung Galaxy S5. It has been said that the specs of the LG G3 include a 5 inch display of QHD 2k with resolution of 2560 x 1440. It may have a camera of 16MP with OIS and it could have the octa-core processor. If so, the LG G3 would be on target to compete against the Samsung Galaxy S5. Sources said that the LG G3 may be revealed on May 17. This would be compared to the LG G2 which arrived in September. Speculation is that it would compete with the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S5 in March.
The rumored release date for the LG G3, if it is accurate, would mean it competing against the Samsung Galaxy S5. The HTC One+ would be out but this would be a modest boost up, with specs that are said to be not that much different from those of the HTC One. Fans of LG have been wondering if the company will launch the LG G Pro 2, this would fall somewhere in-between the LG G2 and LG G3, but there is the LG G Flex with its innovative curved display. If LG are launching the LG G Pro 2, it seems likely that it may arrive at the Mobile Wold Congress in Barcelona and it may arrive with a QHD display of 5.9 inches, a display that would beat the LG G Flex.
