LG G2 Android 5.0 Lollipop Update: Its Not Coming

Being a 2-year old smartphone, it is not surprising why LG has decided not to update the G2. If you are a G2 user, you shouldn’t be upset over the fact that LG will not roll out the Android 5.0 Lollipop for your device. This is because there is another way to obtain the OS.

The method is through XDA and it has been possible for the G2 to run on the Android 5.0 Lollipop since Rashed97 launched a custom ROM that was developed specifically for the smartphone.

In detail, those using the G2 D800, D801, D802, LS980 and VS980 variants can all enjoy the Lollipop OS. Unfortunately, however, there are some minor issues with the custom ROM but Rashed97 has already promised to fix them all.

So if you are highly interested with updating your G2 to the Android 5.0 Lollipop, then follow the installation procedures below.

Pre-requisite
1. Make sure a backup is created and the device is already rooted with CWM. We recommend doing so with NANDROID.
2. A minimum of 50% battery life to ensure no disruption when installation is taking place.
3. CM12 ROM ZIP downloaded for the G2.
4. Google Apps Package downloaded.

Flashing Instruction
1. Transfer both the Custom ROM and Google Apps Package to your G2.
2. Boot device into recovery mode and wipe cache, data and system partition.
3. Flash the CM12 ROM.
4. Then, Flash the Google Apps Package.
5. The G2 should reboot and it will run on the Lollipop OS.
