LG G2 Android 5.0 Lollipop Update: Better Than Official

LG has already launched the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop to the G2. However, many users are still upset with the tech giant and this is due to the Lollipop OS spoiling the device’s performance and also plagued the smartphone with many bugs.

While LG works on a solution, we highly encourage G2 users to head over to XDA and install a different version of the Lollipop instead. An XDA senior developer, Rashed97, had just produced a custom ROM containing the Android 5.0 Lollipop and it is built specifically for the G2 D800, D801, D802, LS980 and VS980 variants.

The best part is that the ROM is free of any major issues. The unfortunate thing is that users will have to go through a lot of hassle as they can only apply the ROM manually. If you are still interested in getting the issue-free Lollipop into your G2, then feel free to refer to our installation instructions below.

Pre-requisite
1. Make sure a backup is created and the device is already rooted with CWM. We recommend doing so with NANDROID.
2. A minimum of 50% battery life to ensure no disruption when installation is taking place.
3. CM12 ROM ZIP downloaded for the G2.
4. Google Apps Package downloaded.

Flashing Instruction
1. Transfer both the Custom ROM and Google Apps Package to your G2.
2. Boot device into recovery mode and wipe cache, data and system partition.
3. Flash the CM12 ROM.
4. Then, Flash the Google Apps Package.
5. The G2 should reboot and it will run on the Lollipop OS.
