Kindle Fire HDX Still Better Than iPad Air Screen

There are plenty of smartphone comparisons being done on a day to day basis. Even tablets get its fair share of reviews. However, we have yet to find out which tablet has the most powerful display ever. DisplayMate did a comparison specifically for the display of the new Apple iPad Air, the Kindle Fire HDX 8.9 and the veteran, Google Nexus 10. Let us take a look at how each device differs from one another, and see who will be crowned champion.

The first is the brightness test. While the iPad Air scored a ‘very good’ producing 449cd/m2, the Kindle Fire HDX laugh it off as it produce 521cd/m2 of light making it really convenient for use under strong sunlight.

Then we test out the sharpness. Apparently all 3 devices fared well against one another producing sharp images.

Imagine a tablet that is able to produce far better colour intensity scale, image contrast and colour gamut that morst televisions and monitor. That was the kind of result we got for both the iPad Air and the Kindle Fire HDX which almost scored the sRGB/Rec.709 Standard. In laments term, the colours produced by these two tablets are so close to reality. The Nexus 10 is already far behind in the comparison scoring only half of that offered by the other two.

Moving on to reflectance test, again the Kindle Fire is the winner having the lowest reflectance among the three. Apple’s iPad Air came in second with the Nexus 10 revealed to provide 54 percent more reflectance than the HDX.

The Nexus 10 is able to stand on the same platform with the other two devices though in terms of viewing angles.

We are all unanimous that Amazon Kindle Fire HDX is the clear winner proving to be the best out of the crop. Credits to the Nexus 10 for not being too far off, even though the device is close to its retirement. All three of them are great tablets in their own way but when the display is concerned, the title goes to the Kindle Fire.
