The company have announced that the vehicle will be going into production and that we will be seeing the launch of the road-going model at the start of next year, most likely at the New York Auto Show.

Mercedes’ G-Class boss, Dr Gunnar Güthenke gave confirmation of this news at an event took place after this week’s Frankfurt Motor Show. He is especially satisfied with how Mercedes have managed to broarden its crossover and SUV ranges and with the BMW X4-fighting GLC Coupe included to the mix, this growth is set to continue. The numbers confirm this. Sales for the Mercedes’ crossover and SUV lines have been increased by 25 percent this year from the 2014 figures.

In 2014 the company experienced record sales for the G-Class and it looks like they may do the same again this year as sales have been increased by around 20 percent once more. The G-Wagon is due to receive a number of changes for 2016, one of which being a 4.0-liter, twin-turbo V8 as the new base engine. Other markets will receive a new diesel engine for 2016 and further updates will be included too. Güthenke states that “Our legend has a bright future”.
