The Apple iOS 7.1.1 appears to be the biggest challenge for jailbreak lovers as many has found themselves trapped on the operating system and there is no way out of it. It gets worse upon discovering that jailbreak developers are not entertaining iOS 7.1.1 and prefers to work straight on the iOS 8 instead.
If you are among the unlucky masses that are trapped in the iOS 7.1.1 and are desperate for an exit sign, there is actually another method and it is through downgrading your device’s operating system. While it might not be possible before, one of our readers shared that he managed to do so with ease.
The lad revealed that he is using a 64GB iPhone 5S bought from Verizon and the process was done with iTunes 11.2.2(3) and OSX 10.9.2. While not everyone shares the same ingredient, it wouldn’t hurt to try it with a Windows OS and other iPhone 5S variant.
All you have to do is plug in the iPhone 5S to the computer and run iTunes. The latter should automatically load the device and identify it as running on the latest available iOS. At that same compartment, there is an option to restore a backup.
You will have to click on it and a list of previous backups will populate the screen. Select the iOS 7.0.4 and hit the restore button. The downgrading should commence and upon completion, you will notice your old files being found all over the place. This can be fixed by using the iPhone Backup Extractor.
On top of that, you will have to jailbreak the iOS 7.0.4 all over again. Once done, there is nothing left to do but celebrate your escape from the iOS 7.1.1.
