A report coming out of China suggests that Apple will stop making the Apple iPhone 5C when they launch the iPhone 6 later this year.
Reports from the South China Morning post indicate that Apple is going to reveal two iPhone 6 devices. One of these will have a display of 4.7 inches and the other a display of 5.5 inches. We have also heard that the screens will have 441ppi, while the current version is 326ppi.
An insider said “They have to tackle the phablet [devices that serve as both phone and tablet] market. People want bigger screens now.”
The report also tells us that the iPhones will offer a display that is scratch resistant sapphire crystal and that Apple will not a phone with a curved display.
“The screens will be flat. Apple doesn’t do anything until Samsung does it, and then they improve upon it,” the insider said.
The Apple iPhone 5C hasn’t enjoyed the expected sales that Apple believed would happen and so they will not go for a refresh of the handset and choose to dump it.
