When the iOS 7 update was made available for the iPhone 4S, owners of the device couldn’t be happier. But their happiness wass short-lived when endless issues surfaced as soon as they had installed the update.
One of the issues reported is the Wi-Fi on the iPhone 4S could not be used as the button was grayed out. The problem seems to be caused by prolonged use of Wi-Fi or Bluetooth, which causes the chip to overheat. A forum user said the button becomes green again after he placed his iPhone 4S inside a refrigerator for 15 minutes. However, this is not an effective solution. You can’t be running to your fridge every time your iPhone 4S overheats!
In some worse cases, the Bluetooth or Wi-Fi chip overheats so much that it becomes fried and can’t be used again. Previously, when the iPhone 4S encountered damaging effects due to the iOS 6 update, however then the iPhone 4S was still under warranty and was repaired at no cost. However, this time around, all the iPhone 4S models should no longer be covered by warranty and owners will be left to pay the repairs themselves. Enraged, some petitions had been set up by iPhone 4S owners already. Apple has not commented anything about this matter yet however.
Apple should come up with a fix for the overheating Wi-Fi and Bluetooth chip to prevent more iPhone 4S units becoming damaged. A solution for the broken chips on the iPhone 4S due to iOS 7 must also be provided. What do you think?
