It is true that nobody actually showed any interest in getting supermarket-made smartphones and tablet. Now, there is an exception to that list and it is the Tesco Hudl 2. The budget Android tablet might be really cheap to own but that does not mean it is a bad device. To prove this point further, we have decided to compare it with the Apple iPad Mini 3.
The latter is the latest tablet to come from Apple. Unfortunately, everything about it is identical to the much older iPad Mini 2. This is except for the TouchID feature that comes with it. Despite that fact, the iPad Mini 3 cost a lot more than its predecessor.
The 16GB WIFI-only Apple iPad Mini 3 retails at £319, which is undeniably steep. Looking at the Hudl 2, Tesco is only charging £125 for it. Furthermore, consumers can use their vouchers to purchase it and there is a promotion going on where every voucher doubles its value if spent on the Hudl 2.
While the Hudl 2 might come with a plastic frame, it is coated in matt colours to give off an overall stylish look. Of course, it cannot be compared to the quality that the Mini 3 has got to offer. The latter is simply sleek in every way.
However, the iPad Mini 3 sports a smaller display size of 7.9” and it runs at 2048x1536p resolution. This is sharper than the Hudl 2’s 8.3” display that offers 272ppi. On the flipside of things, the latter is faster as it runs on the powerful 1.83GHz Intel Atom 4-core processor with 2GB of RAM. The Mini 3 is powered by the A7 processor with only 1GB of RAM to offer. Then again, it is the Mini 3 that offers better software-hardware integration.
When it comes to storage space, both devices in this comparison comes with 16GB of internal memory. This is where the Hudl 2 truly excels as it can support an additional 32GB of external storage. Both devices are on par in the photography segment as they both come with a decent 5MP rear camera and 1.2MP front shooter without an LED flash.
Judging by the specs above, obviously the iPad Mini 3 is the better tablet. On the other hand, the difference between the two is very narrow, thus making the Tesco Hudl 2 the best in terms of value for money.
