When viewed from a distance, both the iPad Mini 3 and the iPad Air 2 from Apple seems like the same tablet that differs in size. Well, today we are going to confirm that description through comparing both tablets and find out on their respective offerings.
Size-wise, it is obvious that the iPad Mini 3 is smaller than the iPad Air 2.The former has a 7.9” screen that offers 324ppi while the latter houses a 9.7” display that offers 264ppi. Both tablets runs on the same resolution of 2048×1536 but due to the Mini 3’s smaller size, it is sharper than the iPad Air 2.
In terms of processor, the iPad Air 2 is powered by the Apple A8X chipset with Triple-core 1.5 GHz CPU mated to 2GB of RAM. The iPad Mini 3 runs on the slightly older Apple A7 chipset with an ARM v8-based Dual-core 1.3 GHz Cyclone CPU and PowerVR G6430 GPU. This is paired to only 1GB of RAM. Regardless of the differences in specs, both the iPad Mini 3 and the iPad Air 2 are operating on the iOS 8.1.
The iPad Air 2 is also completed with an 8MP rear and 1.2MP front cameras. The iPad Mini 3 comes with a 5MP rear and 1.2MP front shooters.
Both the iPad Mini 3 and the iPad Air 2 are offered with 16GB/64GB/128GB of internal storage. For the former, it retails at $399, $499 and $599 respectively. As for the iPad Air 2, they cost $100 more for each trim level when compared to the iPad Mini 3.
