Hours ago, HTC rolled out an update for the One M9. No, it is not a firmware update but more of a software tweak. The software update basically bumps the version number to 1.40.401.5. The OS, on the other hand, is still Android version 5.0.2.
Despite being a mall update, HTC made many changes to the One M9. Of course, the changes are for the better and they include, greater auto-exposure balance for the rear camera, reduction of noise, bumped up performance in low-light and the elimination of yellow/green hue in photos.
Battery life also got boosted after HTC confirmed that they tweaked both the YouTube app and Facebook app to work more efficiently. The most important thing of them all is that the update introduces smart charging thermal improvements and this ensures that the One M9 does not overheat.
The update was released OTA and every One M9 user must have received the prompt by now. If not, users should check the software update tab listed in the device’s setting.
