Agent 47 has never been late or failed an assassination mission. However, the bald Caucasian wearing that slick suit will set to see his first failure since Hitman first debuted.
Apparently, Square Enix Montreal is looking to develop mobile games, thus causing the upcoming, much anticipated Hitman game getting cancelled. The highly successful assassination franchise is looking to debut for both PS4 and Xbox One only to see it derailed for some mobile developments.
Square Enix senior game designer, Richard Knight, confirms this on his LinkedIn profile. As for the network engineer, Anthony Pressaccos revealed that the developer is actually creating a Hitman title for the iOS and Android.
Despite the shift of attention from Square Enix, fans can breathe a sigh of relief knowing that IO Interactive is still working on the franchise. This means that the next-gen Hitman game will definitely come for a release later, rather than sooner.
