I hate to say I told you so but, I told you so! Valve didn’t announce on Half Life 3 at GDC and it is for the obvious reasons. I have mentioned before that GDC is a small tech exhibition and it is not ideal for Valve to announce Half Life 3 at the event.
This is evident with Valve talking about the VR headset project and also the future of Steam. Valve made no announcement on any games whatsoever as they look to wrap up the next stage of development for the aforementioned technologies.
Now that Valve has discussed everything about tech, they can now start focusing on games. Hence, Half Life fans that are bummed out by GDC should pick yourselves up and start hoping again.
There is no better place for Half Life 3 to get announced than at E3. This is because E3 is the biggest annual gaming event around. The next E3 will be happening next month and there is a huge chance for Half Life 3 to get announced then.
