Fallout fans shouldn’t get too excited for Fallout 4 as the game might be a major disappointment in the technical front. Of course, Fallout 4 is still an unannounced title but if the game does get produced, it will be the first in the franchise to debut on the Xbox One and PS4.
However, it is wrong to see it coming with next-generation gaming graphics. Just by looking at the previous Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas, the games were running on the same game engine that was used by Elder Scrolls Oblivion. It seems that Bethesda improved on what they have, thus ensuring Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas to offer better graphics.
If the same method is to be applied on Fallout 4, then fans could see the game running on Skyrim’s game engine. This is worrying as Skryim’s mechanism is that from the older gen consoles. Even improving on it won’t give a big difference to Fallout 4’s technicalities. It is pretty obvious that a new game engine is needed if Fallout 4 is to optimize the next-gen gaming machines.
Then again, Bethesda won’t be producing a new game engine anytime soon. After all, doing so will require years of development which will also put Fallout 4’s creation on hold. The highly anticipated title will instead adopt Skyrim’s game engine but tweaked to be better. This will also make it compatible with previous gen consoles.
With that being said, there is no doubt that Fallout 4 will come with average graphics at best. Regardless, fans shouldn’t worry too much about this and worry about Fallout 4’s status instead.
