Yesterday marked the release of the $399 Kinect-less Xbox One console at retailers worldwide. Gamestop has been experiencing a business boost since Microsoft’s released the newly priced console.
“They went on sale in GameStop yesterday; these things started to fly off the shelves,” Senior Vice President of Merchandising Bob Puzon told GameSpot at E3 today in Los Angeles. “It’s a huge win and a huge opportunity for us.”
Puzon also stated the fact that even though there is a cheaper Xbox One being sold, the $499 Xbox One sale’s are still “very vibrant” for GameStop.
He also commented on the fact that Microsoft will start to sell standalone Kinect cameras for those who purchased the Xbox One console alone.
“that’ll be interesting to see how many of those folks come back and buy the Kinect.”He said.
At the end of 2013, Microsoft had already sold 3 million consoles but they didn’t release any sales numbers since. Although they recently stated that 5 million units were shipped, not sold, to retailers worldwide.
