Indie darling No Man’s Sky will arrive first on the PlayStation 4 – a move some commenters numbered among Sony’s biggest wins at this year’s E3 press conference.
Hello Games founder Sean Murray was emotional as he took the stage to describe the game he’d dreamed of building: an infinite procedural sci-fi universe for players to explore. It is certainly vast, and it’s also quite beautiful.
The London based team of four faced major challenges earlier this year when their offices were flooded over the Christmas holiday – a fact that made it all the more impressive what they’ve accomplished.
The trailer follows the player from one planet teeming with spectacular life-forms, across the stars, through a massive space battle, to a desert planet with giant hovering rock formations, and back out into space again without a single loading screen. The audience in LA was ecstatic.
No release date has been set for the title, though such an ambitious project would most likely be in development for at least another year.
