BioWare has confirmed previously that their upcoming, and yet unnamed Mass Effect franchise installment, won’t relate to Commander Shepard and his history not to the whole trilogy. BioWare GM Aaryn Flynn announced some new info during an interview with GameTrailers. He revealed that players will see the return of certain races from the original trilogy to their upcoming game. Not only that but players, who played the trilogy, will experience some “nods” while they are playing the next Mass Effect.
“It’s exciting because [developer BioWare] Montreal is really killing it with Frostbite–they’re working really hard on that stuff,” he said. “Casey [Hudson, series executive producer] and the Mass Effect leads are really working well with them, making sure everyone’s learning stuff, getting the fundamental tenets of the IP down. And they’re just going for it; they’re doing a lot of really cool stuff right now.”
When asked about the timeline of the next game and whether it will take place before or after the existing games, Flynn responded with “[I] can’t get into that much.”. He tried to rest some of the concerns Mass Effect players are having about this game being completely separate from the Trilogy and a whole new story.
“We’ve got a pretty cool idea for how we’re going to carry on, keep the trilogy story separate, but at the same time, give a bunch of nods to fans who’ve really enjoyed the trilogy the past,” Flynn said. “That’s all going to come out soon.”
The next Mass Effect game still doesn’t have any info concerning its release date nor which consoles it will be featured on.
