This is just in. Mercedes-Benz Malaysia (MBM) has henceforth denied the warranty for the Mercedes car purchased from a grey importer.
In detail, any individuals who bought imported, reconditioned Mercedes cars from unauthorized dealers will see their warranty being voided. This is due to the build specification that is not compatible with the Malaysian standards.
MBM CEO, Roland Folger, revealed that the fuel quality of Malaysia does not meet the requirement of the Mercedes vehicles produced in other countries. The local fuel quality is not on par with the global standards and it may damage the un-tuned vehicles.
Folger added that it is best to purchase the vehicle from authorized dealers as MBM has tuned up the cars to handle the local oil quality.
The petrol and diesel in Malaysia are of Euro 2 standards. This is a few levels lower than Europe, Japan and even neighbouring countries in South-East Asia. The cars running on Euro 2 oil might get damaged from it which explains why MBM is avoiding every risk there is.
