Android 4.5 Lollypop: What We Know Already, Probably

It is widely known that Google will be hosting its very own developer’s conference happening on 25 and 26 of June this year. Every year, the event reveals on upcoming Google products as well aas concept designs.

This year, fans are expecting to know more on the Google Glass, smartwatches, Android Wear, the Nexus 8 tablet and the next Android OS.

The OS in particular is expected to be the Android 4.5. There is a great deal of mystery behind this future program as nobody knows what it is called. Looking at the Android names, Google has this habit to name its OS after sweet treats, in alphabetical order. After ‘K’ comes ’L’ and the first name that pops up is the lollipop.

However, there is also the Lemon Meringue Pie, Layer Cake and Lamington which are contenders for the Android 4.5 name as well.

Names aside, the Android 4.5 will definitely offer more connectivity to wearables. After all, electronics are now a fashion statement and more of these will surface later this year.

Then there is the Google Now. The Android personal assistant has been great but fallen behind the likes of Cortana and Siri. Both rivals are more helpful and personal. Expect Google to look into this and give Google Now a boost.

Aside from that, the Android 4.5 will look to improve the security features of the OS, especially the Google Play store. On top of that, the OS will look to bring out the best in power management.

With all that said, will the Android 4.5 debut on the Nexus 6 or 8? The former sounds more likely to fulfil that role. Nevertheless, we will know for sure in about 2 months’ time.
