Android 4.4 Kitkat Roadmap Updated With Few More Existing Phones

We heard that some of the handsets from Samsung are going to be stopping on Jelly Bean 4.2.2. Two of these devices include the Samsung Galaxy Note and Samsung Galaxy S2. KitKat 4.4 is now out and it brings with it an update to the Linux kernel that supports low memory devices. This has left owners of existing handsets wondering if they are going to get the update to KitKat 4.4.

Last March SamMobile reported that they had a list which showed details about which devices of Samsung would be receiving an update to Jelly Bean 4.2.2 along with devices that were said to be moving forward and getting what was thought at the time to be Android 5. One insider let it slip that the Note 1 and Samsung Galaxy S2 would both remain with Jelly Bean 4.2.2. The handsets originally came with ICS and Android 2.3.

Google launched KitKat 4.4 instead of the anticipated Android 5 Key Lime Pie. However it was said that Key Lime Pie was just a reference to KitKat. We then heard from Android Central who talked about the Linux kernel being updated. It has been said that Linux kernel will bring with it such as support for NVIDIA Tegra, the Samsung Exynos DRM drivers, lower memory footprint and flash friendly file system support.

According to the source the Samsung Galaxy devices that should get an update to KitKat 4.4 include the following:
