Official Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini 4.3 Update Available Already

Anyone who owns the Samsung Galaxy S3 will be happy to know that they can update their device to Android 4.3. This isn’t the official Jelly Bean update; instead it comes from the CyanogenMod team with the 10.2 ROM. One of the big differences with this ROM and others found online is that it doesn’t have all the bloatware that typically comes with the update.

The custom ROM has seen some tweaks from the developers to the TouchWiz and this means that it is now less demanding and more efficient. It also comes with the Bluetooth Low Energy support, Open LG ES 3.0 and virtual sound surround.

There are many other changes and these are listed below.

1. 1GHz bug resolved
2. 2D/3D hardware acceleration
3. Sensors functionality
4. Wireless connectivity
5. All-native tethering
6. Camera functions
7. CPU sleep mode
8. High quality YouTube
9. Offline charging
10. Support for a 64-GB SD card

Before updating the handset to Jelly Bean 4.3 owners should make a back-up of the handset. Debugging has to be enabled also and of course you should download the CyanogenMod 10.2 ROM and follow the steps outlined below.

1. Connect your S3 Mini to your PC via the USB cable.
2. Copy the CM 10.2 ROM and Google Apps package, then paste them onto the SD card of your phone without extracting any zip files.
3. Unplug the phone and turn it off.
4. Reboot your phone into recovery mode by pressing and holding the volume up, home and back keys at the same time until the Samsung logo appears.
5. While in recovery, make an Android backup of your present ROM. Select “backup and restore > backup” to save the ROM onto the SD card so you can restore your older ROM anytime.
6. Do a complete wipe. Choose “wipe data/factory reset” and “wipe cache partition.” Then select “advanced > wipe Dalvik cache.”
7. Once the wipe is done, install CyanogenMod 10.2 by selecting “install zip from SD card > choose zip from SD card”. Find the CM 10.2 you pasted earlier and confirm the installation.”
8. Once this is done, go back to the main menu while in recovery mode and select “reboot system now.”
9. The phone will now reboot. This might take five minutes or so before you see the home screen, so don’t worry.
If executed as how you are instructed, then everything should run smoothly and there won’t be any setbacks.
