Subaru slow update pace and the addition of new rivals was some of the reason why the Subaru WRX STi has been slipping backwards this few year. While their rivals were going for impressive performance, stunning design and great fuel efficiency, Subaru decided to stick to what they know and continue giving the Subaru WRX STi small and insignificant upgrades.
Well, those decisions are coming back to haunt them now as new reports have suggested that the Subaru WRX STi sales have been dropping. Some people think that the best solution will be to give the WRX STi a real upgrade but with the overall sales of performance sedan also dropping, others think that the best way will be to offer a hatchback version of the Subaru WRX STi.
Automakers like Volkswagen, Honda and Ford have had success with their hatchback performance model and some people think that the hatchback WRX STi will help improve the sales of the Subaru WRX STi model significantly.
Subaru has never hinted that they planned to offer a hatchback model. Do you think they should?
