Even though Mazda has never offered a hybrid or EV powered Mazda models, they still managed to be America’s most fuel-efficient car maker for a few years now and that is saying something.
Despite all their achievement, it does not look like Mazda is looking to slow down as new report are suggesting that Mazda might be looking to offer a diesel-powered model.
According to Nikkei Asian Review, Mazda might offer a diesel-powered Mazda CX-5 in the US when they release the 2018 model. After the whole Volkswagen scandal, automakers have tried to avoid bringing diesel-powered models to the US but Mazda is not fazed by it.
The Mazda CX-5 will be coming in with a 2.2-liter diesel engine that will come with two output option. 148hp ad 170hp. Some people believe that Mazda saw this an opportunity to fill in the gap that Volkswagen has left.
