Come 2017, Mazda will be releasing the next RX-8 and it is going to be something different. In a recent announcement by the Japanese carmaker, it seems that the RX-8 will be a perfect balance between efficiency and power.
For starters, the next RX-8 will come with the latest SkyActiv technology that will certainly boost fuel consumption. In addition to that, Mazda revealed that they will be turbocharging the car’s rotary to give the car power, while maintaining its compatibility with SkyActiv.
Mazda didn’t let out any detail or specifics on the RX-8 but they did hint that the car will be based on the upcoming MX5 Miata. Of course, the RX-8’s chassis will get some boost as it needs to handle a larger horsepower.
Fans can rest assured as Mazda will definitely ensure that the RX-8 will not exceed the 2,888-pound curb weight. Meanwhile, they can look forward to see the RX-8 making its debut by 2016, before going to the showrooms in 2017.
