After the Volkswagen diesel scandal, it did seems like automakers were all ready to give up on offering diesel engine here in the US and it looks like Mazda is more than ready to take that step.
Mazda reveals that their 2017 Mazda CX-5 will be coming in with a new engine option. Before they made the announcement, people were hoping that Mazda would offer the CX-5 with a new engine. The new Mazda CX-9 engine to be specific but Mazda had something else on their mind.
The Mazda CX-5 will now be coming with a new 2.2-liter Skyactiv-D engine. According to Mazda, the engine has been tuned to meet the emission standards here in the US. With the new diesel engine, the Mazda will beat models like the Mazda CX-9 to becoming the first Mazda model to offer a diesel engine option here in the US.
We should be seeing the new diesel-powered CX-5 in February next year.
