2015 Volvo XC90: A Fortress On Wheels

It is no secret that Volvo is busy producing the XC90 but little is known on what it has got to offer. That is until today when Volvo decided to spill more beans on the upcoming SUV.

For starters, the XC90 is going to be a revolutionary SUV due to its higher safety standards, efficiency and practicality. The 7-seater SUV has a bold re-design that comes with features like T-shaped LED daytime running lights and a longer and wider wheel base.

Under the hood, the Volvo comes in multiple engine variants. There is the 2L 4-cylinder mill, the 316hp T6 petrol turbocharged and supercharged powertrain, the 222hp D5 diesel engine and a 390hp plug-in hybrid engine that combines the petrol engine with the electric motor.

Aside from power, the XC90 can be said as a moving fortress as well. It is possibly the safest vehicle around as it arrives with new innovations and technological advancements. For starters, going off-road will automatically tighten the seat belts and the seat will absorb the shock when on tough trails.

Then there is the auto-braking feature which will assist in stopping the vehicle when in close proximity with the other vehicles around it. This new technology is part of Volvo’s vision to see nobody dying or getting serious injuries in their vehicles by 2020.

Once the XC90 gets fully unveiled during the Paris Motor Show, customers can start booking the vehicle for as little as £40,000. Of course, this is for the entry-level XC90 and getting the higher-end variants will cause a lot more.
