2015 Nissan X-Trail Gets A Big Makeover

The Indonesia International Motor Show has concluded and one of the highlights of the event is the third-generation Nissan X-Trail. It was the second time the SUV got unveiled and Nissan made it clear that they will be producing it in the near future.

At a glance, the X-Trail comes with a design that is somewhat identical to the Qashqai. It comes with the hallmark “V-Motion” grille, slim headlights, D-pillar kink, C-shaped tail lights and assortment of sweeps and curves. In short, the X-Trail can be said to be a longer Qashqai.

As for the interior, it was mix and match for the designers in Nissan headquarters. The company simply replicate the layout from the Teana and brought it over to the new X-Trail. Of course, the SUV has more interior space which explains why it comes with a third-row of seats. Then again, the rear seats can only fit in children, not adults.

Under the hood, the X-Trail runs on a petrol engine that comes in two variants. There is the Serena S-Hybrid-derived MR20DD 2.0 litre direct-injected mill developing 144 PS and 200 Nm, as well as a QR25DE 2.5 litre MPI motor from the Teana that produces 171 PS and 233 Nm. Both engines are mated to the Xtronic CVT transmission, but the S-Hybrid model has the option for a 6-speed manual transmission.

The X-Trail is also a moving fortress as it achieved great safety ratings. This is owed to the safety features like dual-airbags, ABS with EBD, brake assist, Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC), Hill Start Assist, Active Trace Control and ISOFIX.

The X-Trail has already been launched in Indonesia with a price tag of IRp383 million for the entry level model. Soon, it will be shipped over to other parts of the world, starting with the Malay Archipelago.
