2015 Ford Mustang Production Has Increased

We have heard a great deal about the Ford Mustang over the last months, however Ford have only just started on the series production over at the Flat Rock assembly plant.

It was said that the 6th gen of the Mustang is going on sale in the US next year, along with 120 countries, including 25 right hand drive markets, these are heading to the UK, Australia and South Africa.

Ford are offering three powertrains over in the US, these include the 3.7 litre V6, the 2,3 litre EcoBoost and the 5.0 litre V8, which has been upgraded. The latter will have the valvetrain, a new intake manifold, improved cylinder heads, this gives 435hp along with 400 lb-ft of torque.

The 2.3 litre EcoBoost will have direct injection, variable cam timing, twin scroll turbocharger, this is to deliver 310 horsepower along with 320 lb-ft or torque. The base version is the 3.7 litre naturally aspirated V6 which will offer 300hp along with 280Lb-Ft of torque. The Mustang has also been revealed to have all new front and back suspension and integral link independent suspension at the back.

Over at the Flat Rock assembly plant there has been a $555 million investment; this allowed Ford to add in a fully flexible body shop so that multiple cars can be produced at the same time and on the same line. They also have a three –wet paint process, along with dirt detection and laser brazing.

The same plant can also produce the Ford Fusion, it has 3,000 employees and they work two shifts. “I don’t think there is any place in the world where this vehicle is not known. To build it right here in Michigan is something to be proud of,” commented UAW Vice President Jimmy Settles about the new Mustang.
