2015 BMW M3 & M5: Weight Loss Program

The BMW M3 & M5 sports cars are two prestigious names in the history of automobile. However, the inclining price of petrol is beginning to take its toll on the M-division.

BMW is aware of this and hence, announced that it will not be looking to increase the power of these vehicles. Instead, the German carmaker will look to reduce as much weight as possible.

Head of BMW M product management, Carsten Price, revealed that they will rather have a car that weighs a ton instead of making a car with 1000hp.

The weight reduction program will not only improve the performances of the M3 and M5 but will also achieve better CO2 emission. Many felt that BMW will add in xDrive to improve performance but Price write off the idea as ridiculous.

The lad concluded that there is no point to removing 80kg only to add 75kg of xDrive technology. It simply defeats the purpose.
