Subaru might not be the biggest name in the automotive industry but they are well-known for producing good and reliable vehicles. The latest SUV from Subaru is the Corsstrek Hybrid simply reminded us of how good the Japanese carmaker can be.
The keyword here is hybrid so don’t get surprised when I say that it runs on a small 2L Boxer engine that produces 148hp and accompanied by a 13hp electric motor.
Speaking of which, the electric mill has a capacity of 0.6kWh, which is really small in the world of hybrids. On electricity, the car can barely achieve 13mph. Also, switching from hybrid to gas can really jerk the vehicle and worries the driver.
As a vehicle that is built for efficiency, it is sad to learn that the Crosstrek can only achieve 31mpg. Then again, some drivers revealed that they managed to achieve 37mpg on highways.
However, the Crosstrek is able to achieve 60mph in the 8seconds figure. The car is built as an AWD vehicle and comes with tall 8.7” suspensions to take on the rough roads.
As for the design, the Crosstrek doesn’t look ferocious at all. In fact, the front part looks timid making it hard to trust the vehicle. Inside the cabin however, everything is kept neat and minimalistic. Space isn’t an issue for the Crosstrek Hybrid as it offers a huge room to fit in the driver and passengers comfortably.
The size of the SUV is also isn’t that big, which makes it easier for new drivers to park their vehicle. The Crosstrek Hybrid is truly a practical vehicle that is built for durability and performance. Of course, it could have been better if Subaru adds in more basic features like leather seats to the vehicle.
The Crosstrek Hybrid retails at $26,000 for the entry level. This is quite high for the car. In fact, one can get a much better Hybrid SUV for that same amount of cash.
