A couple of years ago, Proton launched their first ever MPV and it became a hit due to the value that it offers. The Exora runs on the FWD system and has 7-seats to offer. While still considered a new face in the segment, the Malaysian carmaker has truly made its mark by offering a reliable MPV.
The Exora comes in two variants. First is the entry-level GX $25,990 and second is the GXR. Both MPVs arrives with a turbocharged 1.6-litre petrol engine and a rear-seat DVD entertainment system. The special thing about the Exora is its Lotus-inspired handling. The vehicle offers a world-class suspension system that allows it to take on every corners with ease.
Under the hood, the Exora runs on the Campro turbocharged 1.6L engine that arrived with a shorter stroke than all the other Campro variants. The compression ratio is lowered to 8:9:1 and there is also variable valve timing.
In figures, the Exora’s mill is able to produce 103kW at 5000rpm and peak torque of 205Nm is delivered in the range of 2000-4000rpm. Fuel consumption is rated at 8.2l/100kms (combined cycle). The MPV is operated with a CVT transmission.
Inside the cabin, the Exora comes with a simple design with all the basic features of today’s vehicle. The materials are made of plastic to keep the cost low but surprisingly, the speakers are of high quality. The Exora continues to be amazing as it manage to offer so much space due to its precise design.
The Proton Exora ticks every box for a great and simple but cheap MPV. However, Proton could have at least given it more safety features like side curtain airbags for the rear seats. Nevertheless, consumers can never go wrong with the Exora.
