About 10 years ago, Porsche introduced its premium SUV, the Cayenne. The car has proved to be one of the best-selling premium SUVs in history. Now that the Macan has been released, is it able to forge the success of its senior?
Unlike the Cayenne, the Macan is an SUV that offers a sports car driving experience. This is something similar to the Range Rover Evoque and the BMW 3-Series Touring but is it by any means better?
Like most SUVs, the trio is built to run on the toughest terrains that the world has got to offer. However, the Macan stay ahead of the competition as its air-suspension can be raised to give the car an approach angle of 26.6 degrees.
Then there is the efficiency comparison. Between the trio, it seems that the BMW 3-Series is the greenest of them all. Its emission was measured at 148g/km, which is far cleaner than the 159g/km recorded by both the Porsche Macan and the Range Rover Evoque.
In terms of handling, both the 3-Series and the Evoque is no match for the Macan. As how it was described by Porsche, this latest SUV can take on road bends much like the Cayman or the 911 turbo.
Even with an engine that produces 255bhp at 4000rpm, the Porsche Macan is still a better drive than the BMW 3-Series and the Range Rover Evoque.
