2014 Mazda CX-9 Review: Too Pricey For Its Own Good

While most SUVs often come with a ferocious look, the latest Mazda CX-9 came out with a smile on its face. The grille is shaved to be that way as Mazda wishes for the car to remain happy at all times.

The 7-seater SUV is also pretty agile for its size. Handling is never an issue for the CX-9 as it comes with the SkyActiv system that ensures the SUV can take on the bends and corners with ease.

However, it does pains the driver and passengers as the CX-9 is not able to offer the ultimate comfort. The SUV comes with leather seats and a neat finish in its interior but the loud road, tyre and wind noise makes it a pain to drive the CX-9.

The SUV runs on the 3.7-litre V6 engine capable of producing 273 bhp and 366 Nm. The power mill is fixed to a 6-speed automatic transmission and it will surely appeal to all the speed lovers in the world.

The CX-9 is also not short of features as it comes with 20″ alloy wheels, leather-wrapped steering wheel with audio controls, leather upholstery, 4-way power front passenger seat, 8-way power driver seat with memory settings, auto on-off headlamps, fog lamps, power side mirrors with turn indicator, power moonroof, keyless entry, automatic climate control, and in-dash 6-CD/MP3 audio system with 10 speakers. Safety kit includes ABS + EBD + BA, front/side/curtain airbags, Traction Control System (TCS), Dynamic Control System (DCS) and Rollover Stability Control.

Then again, it is sad to say that the CX-9 is the worst in efficiency. The V6 engine emits 309 grams/km of carbon dioxide, which is pollution at its finest. The fact that it comes with a price tag of RM300k makes it a no-go for the masses.
